We're back from Winter Camp! This year, Dr. John Stackhouse came to help us understand what it means to "maximize shalom" and live as Christians live. Our students were impacted by his light-hearted sense of humor as he taught us why we're all here.
There's a song we like to sing in our fellowship times called 'Only King Forever'. Some of the lyrics read:
There's a song we like to sing in our fellowship times called 'Only King Forever'. Some of the lyrics read:
We lift our banner high
We lift the name of Jesus
From age to age you reign
Your kingdom has no end
You are the only king forever
Almighty God, we lift you higher
You are the only king forever
Forevermore, you are victorious
It calls to mind 2 Corinthians 4:5. "For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us."
Our students know who their God is. They proclaim Jesus and lift his name high. They are learning to share his good news as they live their lives, as they go to class and work and home. And God, in his loving kindness, delights in using these jars of clay to put the world back together again. Things are not yet as they should be; but God is on the move through us. What a privilege to be a part of that.
Thank you for choosing to lift Jesus' name high above your own. Thank you for trusting in his goodness, even when things seem bleak. I hope that you're encouraged to know that a bunch of silly, young college students are exchanging all they have for a cross with glad determination.
Thank you for all your prayers and support. Let me know if there's anything I can be praying for you.
