January 2019

Happy New Year!

This past year seems to have gone by so quickly. I hope that yours has been full of sweet moments between you, God, and the people He's placed in your life. Mine certainly has.

Today, I recognize how outstandingly wealthy I am. In comparison with the majority of the world, who lack access to education and shelter and drinking water, I have more than most people could dream of. I live in a comfortable home, own a (mostly) reliable car, and never worry about my next meal. I have shoes without holes in the bottom, access to health care, information and technology at my fingertips, and a platform to be heard.

As if that weren't enough, I have community. A fulfilling job training up the next leaders of God's kingdom. A team of donors that make it possible for me to do what I love.

It seems only fitting that we who have more than enough should serve the God who provides it. I pray that as this year begins, God breathes his Spirit freshly upon you, readying you to serve with a renewed sense of purpose and love.

Ways to pray:

Please join me in praying for the world's poor today, for young children who work to support their families, for those in slums across the globe struggling to survive.

Please join me in praying for the poor among us, who, while surround by a great multitude of wealth and possession, lack the true treasure of knowing and trusting God. Those whose physical comfort has blinded them from their hunger for God.

Our students are getting ready for school to start again. We'll all be at Winter Camp in 2 weeks to prepare our hearts and minds for another semester of mission. Many of them have disconnected from God over the break, due to lack of community and immaturity. Others have experienced lonesome holidays, still others hardships of their own. They'll be coming to camp in need of God's mercy and presence. Pray that they seek him while he may be found, and call upon him while he is near. I know that God wants to fill them with joy. Hope abounds!

Thank you for your love and support,

Campus Missionary, UNT & TWU Denton
